Well, it's about time the Met's About Time made it's debut, don't you think? After delaying its May opening (and, of course, cancelling the Met Gala to celebrate it), the Metropolitan Museum of Art's storied Costume Institute has officially opened the doors of its 2020 fashion exhibition.
About Time: Fashion and Duration, which coincides with the museum's 150th anniversary, presents an exploration of the past 150 years of fashion, examining "how clothes generate temporal associations that conflate the past, present, and future." Employing the concepts of French philosopher Henri Bergson, along with the "ghost narration" of time-bending author Virginia Woolf, the much-anticipated presentation combines philosophy, literature, culture, and obviously, design to create a breathtaking experience for fashion-lovers and history nerds alike.
Made possible by Louis Vuitton, the exhibition features pieces from the label's creative director Nicolas Ghesquière along with iconic ensembles from Christian Dior, Alexander McQueen, Comme des Garçons, and Viktor & Rolf. From the clothes to the curation, it's certainly one exhibition that can't be missed.
